When winter in Gold Coast, Australia rolls in, travellers sometimes expect the fun to wind down. That’s not the case here. Surfers Paradise stays lively with sunlit days, crisp ocean air, and plenty to enjoy within walking distance.

Stroll the evening markets, catch live music, or soak in the views from above the coastline. The season still brings everything worth doing, just with fewer crowds and cooler nights.

Whale watching, art-filled afternoons, and indoor favourites all belong on the list. On the Gold Coast, winter slows nothing down. It simply shifts the tempo.

Winter in Gold Coast, Australia

Winter in Gold Coast, Australia, takes a softer approach to the season. While cities down south layer up, the coast stays bright with mild breezes and blue skies.

Daytime temperatures hover near 21°C, and locals adjust to lighter layers without skipping their outdoor routines.

Plenty happens through the cooler months, and there’s no need to stay in. Attractions stay open, the pace is relaxed, and the atmosphere has a refreshing calm.

What makes the Gold Coast in winter stand out:

  • Mild weather is ideal for outdoor strolls and sightseeing
  • Smaller crowds at major venues and beaches
  • Clear skies that turn every sunset into a photo opportunity

Markets stay active, galleries rotate new exhibits, and seasonal events fill the calendar. The winter Gold Coast experience invites visitors to slow down and take it all in without giving up the energy of a beachside destination.

Walkable Winter Fun

Winter in Surfers Paradise suits those who enjoy slow strolls, easy outings, and a sense of spontaneity.

The weather stays kind, the breeze is fresh, and almost everything worth doing sits within easy reach of St Tropez Resort. For guests who want to stay local without missing out, these nearby spots bring just the right mix of casual and memorable.

Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets

These beach markets Gold Coast visitors love run on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evenings. They stretch along the Esplanade with stalls selling handmade goods, souvenirs, and easy bites to eat.

With live music and ocean views, it’s one of the most relaxed things to do in Surfers Paradise during winter. The cooler air makes wandering the stalls even more enjoyable.

The Wax Museum Gold Coast

Just a few streets away, this museum is unlike any other. With its mix of history, folklore, and lifelike figures, it adds an unexpected edge to your day. It’s among the more curious Gold Coast things to do, and the guided tour adds extra intrigue without taking up too much time.

Holey Moley Surfers Paradise

Neon lights, themed putting lanes, and cheeky cocktails define this local favourite. Holey Moley Surfers Paradise brings mini golf into a playful new setting.

It’s popular with groups, especially after dark. Located near the heart of the Surfers Paradise shopping precinct, it’s easy to find and hard to leave without a laugh.

Views and Culture

Winter light softens the skyline and slows the pace just enough to enjoy Surfers Paradise in a different way. The following spots invite a quieter kind of day out, without losing the wow factor.

SkyPoint Observation Deck

The SkyPoint Observation Deck sits 230 metres above sea level inside the Q1 building. It’s only a short walk from Surfers Paradise Beach and offers sweeping views of the coast, hinterland, and city.

During the Gold Coast in winter, the air stays crisp and skies remain clear, ideal for sunset visits. Grab a seat, enjoy a drink, and watch the coast change colour. Bring a jacket, the temperature drops once you’re at the top.

Home of the Arts Gold Coast

Just ten minutes inland, Home of the Arts Gold Coast (HOTA) brings together film, music, theatre, and contemporary exhibitions.

It’s a top pick for those asking what to do in Gold Coast when the evenings turn cool. Check the calendar for winter comedy shows, indie screenings, and indoor events that keep things warm, creative, and close to the heart of the city.

Winter Highlights Nearby

While much of the fun in Surfers Paradise is walkable, a short drive opens up a few seasonal standouts. During Gold Coast winter, one of the coast’s most extraordinary experiences happens just offshore.

Whale Watching Tours – Main Beach

Between June and October, humpback whales travel along the coast as part of their northern migration. This seasonal movement aligns perfectly with the

The Gold Coast winter makes whale watching tours a popular choice for Gold Coast guests. Tours depart daily from Main Beach Marina and head into open water, where sightings are frequent.

Expect to see:

  • Breaches
  • Tail slaps
  • Full-body rolls

Morning cruises tend to run on calmer seas, and onboard commentary offers helpful background while still letting the moment lead. Be sure to:

  • Dress for the wind
  • Bring your camera
  • Keep your eyes on the horizon

If you’re narrowing down things to do in Surfers Paradise this winter, this is one to keep high on the list. It’s low effort, visually spectacular, and always memorable.

Plan a Cosy Escape

While other places slow down in winter, the Gold Coast, Australia, keeps things easygoing without losing its spark. Mild days, crisp nights, and a softer tempo set the tone for the season. It’s a great time to stretch out, skip the queues, and enjoy a gentler pace by the sea.

The winter Gold Coast experience highlights a few seasonal standouts:

  • Open-air twilight markets
  • Panoramic views at sunset
  • Whale watching during the migration months

There’s no shortage of things to do in Surfers Paradise, and winter clears the way for more relaxed outings without the usual crowds. The weather plays along, too—sunlight stays, and the cooler breeze makes wandering that much more comfortable.

This part of the coast doesn’t put on a show. It keeps the charm steady with:

  • Quiet mornings near the beach
  • Cultural afternoons at galleries or the cinema
  • Unhurried nights in the heart of town

For travellers chasing ease and variety, the Gold Coast things to do in winter deliver a season well worth remembering.

Plenty of travellers check the forecast when planning a holiday, but the smart ones check the event calendar. May hits the sweet spot on the Gold Coast, and if you’re asking what’s on the Gold Coast this month, we’ve lined up the good stuff.

Expect sky-shaking fireworks, beachside music that goes well past sunset, and a boat show that’s all about big dreams and bigger engines.

Many events are free, all are worth your time, and most are just a stroll or tram ride from the sand. Don’t wait until your mate tells you what you missed.

What’s On Gold Coast This May

May is shaping up to be one of the Gold Coast’s busiest and brightest months, with live music, waterfront glamour, and sky-high thrills in full swing.

The season stays warm, and so does the action. Anyone keeping an eye on what’s on the Gold Coast this May will notice a calendar packed with standout events. Here are just a few of the highlights making waves:

  • Open-air blues festivals fill Broadbeach with rhythm
  • Million-dollar yachts lining the marina at the boat show
  • Fireworks and pyrotechnics over the Surfers Paradise shoreline
  • Avant-garde art installations appearing in public spaces

These events on the Gold Coast aren’t add-ons. They define the experience. Below, we’ve mapped out the major Gold Coast event dates to help you time your trip right.

Blues on Broadbeach

Broadbeach is set to hum with soul and rhythm as the coast’s best-loved music weekend returns this May.

The Gold Coast’s Signature Blues Festival

Running from 15 to 18 May 2025, Blues on Broadbeach takes over the streets with four days of live music, all completely free. This Blues Festival Gold Coast favourite brings together headline acts and emerging talent across multiple open-air stages, drawing crowds with its easygoing vibe and quality line-up.

Getting There Without the Fuss

Skip the car and jump on the G: link tram at Cavill Avenue. It’s a short ride to Broadbeach South, just a few minutes away, and drops you close to the main stage areas.

When to Go and What to Eat

Evenings are the standout. As the sun dips, the crowd swells and the atmosphere lifts. Food trucks, bars, and cafés around Broadbeach keep it social and simple.

This Gold Coast Blues Festival is a true festival staple, packed with live music and coastal charm.

Boat Show at Sanctuary Cove

Polished hulls, designer interiors and waterside prestige return this May with one of the most anticipated marine events in Queensland.

Australia’s Leading Marine Showcase

The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from 22 to 25 May 2025, setting the stage for high-end vessels, marine technology and luxury lifestyle exhibits. As a signature Gold Coast event, it draws boating enthusiasts, industry leaders and curious onlookers into a relaxed, open-air setting.

Getting There and Parking Tips

Expect around 35 35-minute drive north from Surfers Paradise. Parking fills early, so plan to arrive in the morning or use the park-and-ride shuttle. Tickets typically range between $25 and $35. Check the official site closer to the date for final pricing and early access options.

Lunch With a View

Take a break at The Marine Village, where waterfront cafés and courtyard restaurants create the ideal setting for a casual meal with a view.

Of all the events in Gold Coast this May, few match this one for polish, pace and atmosphere.

SeaFire Fireworks

Surfers Paradise lights up once again with one of the most visually striking nights on the local calendar.

A Festival of Light and Sound

SeaFire Surfers Paradise returns on 31 May 2025, transforming the beachfront into a high-energy fireworks competition. Pyrotechnic teams from around the world go head-to-head, choreographing sky-high displays to music in a setting that buzzes with excitement. It’s one of the top events on the Gold Coast each year, and it draws big crowds for good reason.

Easy to Access, Free to Enjoy

The event is free to attend and easily walkable from the St Tropez Resort. For the best view, aim to arrive early and set up near the Esplanade or on the sand.

Food, Fireworks and Atmosphere

A night market pops up nearby with casual bites, sweets and drinks. It’s the kind of event that suits couples, families and anyone chasing a good reason to stay out late.

As far as any festival on the Gold Coast goes, SeaFire stands out for all the right reasons.

BLEACH Festival*

Creative energy will hit the streets this May as early BLEACH* installations bring bold ideas into everyday Gold Coast corners.

Art That Moves With the City

The BLEACH Festival Gold Coast is known for its fresh approach, turning everyday locations into pop-up stages and immersive spaces. This year’s early program keeps things close to Surfers Paradise, with performances and art moments that feel spontaneous yet considered.

Highlights Near Surfers

One event will take place at dusk along the Esplanade, where live music and movement art meet the fading light. Another installation nearby will transform a local park into an ambient sound experience, inviting passersby to pause and tune in.

Originality With No Detour

This festival Gold Coast favourite is built for curious travellers who want a cultural hit without leaving their postcode. BLEACH* proves that memorable doesn’t always mean far-flung.

Why May Is the Month to Visit

If you’re chasing warm days, cool nights and a calendar stacked with music and spectacle, May is your moment.

It’s peak season for what’s on the Gold Coast, but the crowds are here for the events, not just the beaches. The weather lines up beautifully:

  • Daytime highs sit near 23°C—ideal for outdoor sessions and seaside walks.
  • Evening lows around 15°C—perfect for alfresco dining and night-time shows.
  • Packing tip: Bring a light jacket for post-sunset comfort.

The calendar lines up back-to-back highlights:

  • SeaFire turns the shoreline into a fireworks arena.
  • Blues on Broadbeach brings four days of rhythm to the streets.
  • Sanctuary Cove turns heads with superyachts and marine showpieces.

Now’s the time to anchor your plans around the main acts and secure a front-row base before the rest catch on.

Where Events Meet Ease

When your accommodation matches your event line-up, everything falls into place.

St Tropez Apartment sits within walking distance of SeaFire, with the G:link tram nearby for quick rides to Blues on Broadbeach and the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. No parking stress. No long transfers.

Each apartment is fully self-contained and comfortably set within tropical surrounds—ideal for travellers planning a May packed with headline events.

Start your itinerary with Surfers Paradise Accommodation and Things to Do in Surfers Paradise, and let the rest unfold with ease.

Finding the best bars Surfers Paradise has to offer can be a mission in itself. The options are endless, the neon signs all promise a good time, and every corner hums with music.

But not every venue lives up to the buzz. This guide cuts through the noise with a sharp, curated list of spots where the drinks are worth the dollars, the crowd brings the energy, and your walk back to the apartment won’t need a cab.

These are the go-to venues for anyone who values a solid cocktail, a decent soundtrack, and zero regrets by last call.

Best Bars Surfers Paradise

The bar scene in Surfers Paradise is full of energy, but the real winners are the venues close to your stay that always have something happening.

These spots combine atmosphere, good service, and drinks worth revisiting. If you want to start strong, these are the ones to know.

The Avenue Gold Coast

The Avenue is a central fixture on the strip. With DJs, live bands, and theme nights running throughout the week, it sets the pace for a big night out.

The menu covers everything from tap beer to sharp house cocktails, and prices are fair for such a high-traffic location.

The crowd is always moving, the energy stays high, and the dance floor rarely slows down. It’s one of the best bars Surfers Paradise has for anyone who wants entertainment without needing to change venues.

Surfers Paradise Beer Garden

This is where you go to ease into the night. The beer garden Surfers Paradise locals keep returning to has a laid-back outdoor setting, acoustic sets on weekends, and plenty of open space for groups.

No entry fees, easy access seating, and a casual drinks list make it a smart first stop or a final one for those keeping it simple.

Steampunk Surfers Paradise

Steampunk has its own personality, and it sticks to it. With copper pipes, vintage details, and warm lighting, it creates an industrial-chic vibe that suits the after-dark crowd.

The bar team takes classic cocktails and reworks them with a twist, making this cocktail bar Surfers Paradise visitors remember for its presentation as much as its flavour.

It works well as a destination before the clubs, especially if you prefer a seat and a conversation before the music ramps up.

Nightclubs in Surfers Paradise

The energy in Surfers Paradise doesn’t wind down after sunset. These Gold Coast nightclubs set the tone for a night that builds with every track. Each venue holds its own with a strong identity, a loyal crowd, and a dance floor that stays in motion.

Empire R&B Nightclub

Empire is one of the few true R&B nightclubs in Surfers Paradise. It stays in its lane and does it well. Dedicated playlists, genre-focused sets, and a packed floor define the experience. The doors open early, and by 10 pm, the room is already pulsing with movement.

Instagram: Empire R&B Nightclub

Casablanca Gold Coast

Casablanca brings high energy and a sense of occasion. With a Mediterranean-style layout and a DJ booth that commands attention, it draws a steady line outside and a busy floor inside.

The music leans into Latin rhythms and commercial house. For those narrowing down nightclubs in Surfers, this one earns a top spot.

Instagram: Casablanca Gold Coast

Cocktails Nightclub

Cocktails nightclub continues to pull a crowd with themed events, no-fuss entry, and familiar favourites behind the decks. It has built a steady following with its late sets, solid sound, and no over-the-top dress code. As far as club Gold Coast options go, this one stays consistent.

Retro’s Cocktail Lounge

Retro nightclub regulars know exactly what they’re walking into. Neon lights, a soundtrack of 80s and 90s hits, and a space built for shoulder shuffles and sing-alongs. It’s loud, lighthearted, and packed with personality. No pretence, no pressure, just a good time.

Rooftop Bars Gold Coast

On warm evenings, rooftop venues hit a sweet spot. They give you space to ease into the night, a view worth pausing for, and a soundtrack that doesn’t rush the mood. These two rooftop bars are within walking distance and strike a clean balance between style and comfort.

Lulu Rooftop & Bar

Lulu brings a polished, coastal aesthetic that works well against the city skyline. The layout favours soft curves, moody lighting, and a quiet confidence in its design.

The crowd arrives dressed for the evening, cocktails come out with care, and the playlist holds a mellow pace before the dinner rush.

As a top pick for any Gold Coast rooftop restaurant list, Lulu makes a strong case. On weekends, reservations are wise around sunset.

The Island Rooftop

The Island leans casual and upbeat. Booths line the edges while DJs run the soundtrack. Drinks cover the essentials with ease, and seating gives groups enough space to linger without a time limit.

It stands out as a bar that Gold Coast locals use to start the night with minimal planning. For anyone searching for pubs with live music – Gold Coast, it checks the box without tipping into full nightclub territory.

Plan Your Night Out

With the right list, planning becomes the easy part. Kick off with rooftop cocktails, settle in with live music, or hit the dance floor when the tempo lifts. Every spot mentioned is a short walk from St Tropez Resort, which means no rideshare costs and no parking stress.

The nightlife in this part of the coast works because the venues do. Each one brings its own atmosphere, and you’re never far from the next move. Surfers Paradise’s best bars and nightclubs are all within reach, and there’s something on every night.

For more tips on how to round out your trip, visit our attraction page in Surfers Paradise. There’s always more happening close to home.

Why Surfers Paradise Shines After Dark

When night falls on the Gold Coast, the rhythm shifts. Streets light up, music flows from patios, and each venue adds its own pulse.

There’s something for every pace: Gold Coast nightclubs with packed floors, rooftop bars with skyline views, and pubs that balance energy with space to unwind.

Loose plans work best here. With the best bars Surfers Paradise is known for and Surfers nightclubs that keep the night going, you only need to step out the door. The rest tends to sort itself out.

Your Coastal Base Near the Buzz

Skip the late-night logistics. St Tropez Apartment keeps you close to the beach, the bars, and the best of Surfers Paradise nightlife. Walk out for cocktails, walk back without a second thought.

Each apartment gives you room to reset. It’s ideal for couples, solo stays, or anyone needing family accommodation in Surfers Paradise that’s both central and peaceful.

Browse your stay at St Tropez Apartments and settle in near the action.

Short breaks help reset the pace. Pick up a gelato near Cavill Mall or pause at Chevron Renaissance, where shaded tables make it easy to recharge.

That rhythm is what keeps family holidays QLD relaxed while you tick off the best family activities Gold Coast has waiting.

Take Time to Slow Down

Downtime is part of the plan, too, and Surfers Paradise makes it easy.

After a busy morning, a slower afternoon can shift the pace for the better. These quiet pauses help everyone recharge without stepping away from the fun:

  • Walk along the beachfront at your own pace
  • Rest in the shade near the foreshore

Planning where to eat shouldn’t feel like cracking code on TripAdvisor. You want bold flavour. You want a setting with energy.

These surfers’ paradise restaurants keep things simple. Sizzling teppanyaki shows, margaritas by the water and meals that hold their own in any foodie city. Each one adds serious flavour to your holiday, even if you’re still in thongs.

Surfers Paradise Restaurants Worth Your Appetite

Knowing where to eat in Surfers Paradise makes all the difference. Craving flame-grilled steaks, fresh seafood or sky-high burgers?

This part of the coast has them lined up and ready. These surfers’ paradise restaurants keep dining decisions simple, with most venues walkable or just a quick Uber away.

Expect a strong mix of:

  • rooftop tacos with a view
  • burger joints that draw a loyal crowd
  • modern grills and buffet dining with live chef stations

Big Flavour, No Fuss

Casual dining in Surfers Paradise doesn’t mean cutting corners. These spots bring bold menus, easygoing atmospheres and solid value. They are ideal for families, groups, or anyone chasing a relaxed bite without dressing up or overthinking the plan.

Longboards Laidback Eatery & Bar

Longboards belong on any list of Surfers Paradise restaurants. Just off the beach, it pulls in a steady crowd for oversized burgers, surf shack energy and outdoor tables.

It works well for lunch after a swim or a chilled-out dinner. The Big Kahuna burger is a local talking point for good reason.

The Yankee’s Restaurant & Bar

This American-style diner runs on wings, ribs and chilli cheese fries. The Yankees suit easy group dinners, late-night bites and laid-back afternoons with sport on screen.

It stands out as one of those places for dinner that Gold Coast visitors tend to remember for the food and the no-pressure atmosphere.

TGI Fridays Surfers Paradise

Located at Chevron Renaissance, TGI Fridays brings big portions and fast service to the table. Families rely on it for the kids’ menu, crowd-pleasing mains and casual setting. It’s dependable, familiar and easy to enjoy without much planning.

El Camino Cantina

Bright, loud and unapologetic, El Camino turns up the volume on Tex-Mex. Loaded nachos, frozen margaritas and colour in every corner make this a standout for groups wanting to set the tone for the evening. You’ll find it inside the Paradise Centre, close to everything and hard to miss.

Polished but Relaxed

Some dinners call for something a little extra without turning into a big production. These venues strike that balance. The food is sharp, the settings are well-considered, and the experience stays relaxed. Perfect for date nights, small groups or anyone wanting an atmosphere without the formality.

Clifford’s Grill & Lounge

Clifford’s serves modern Australian cuisine with confidence. Flame-grilled sirloin, crafted house sauces and cocktails that don’t miss the mark keep this spot on the radar for locals and visitors alike.

The fit-out is stylish but not uptight, and the location near the beach makes it even easier to say yes to a night out. It stands out among dinner places, Gold Coast guests recommend it for flavour and flow. Tables fill quickly on weekends, so a booking helps.

Alma Surfers Paradise

Alma brings Mexican flavours into a coastal frame. Ceviche tostadas, chicken mole and mezcal-driven drinks anchor the menu, with balcony seating that works well for couples or relaxed dinners with friends.

The room carries warmth without trying too hard. Alma Surfers Paradise has carved a place among venues that get the details right without losing the vibe.

Bazaar Gold Coast at QT

Bazaar Qt buffet turns the buffet experience into something worth repeating. Chefs prepare dishes live, menus rotate with global influence, and nothing feels pre-packed.

It’s well-paced, generous and made for diners who take their time. As one of the places for dinner, Gold Coast regulars remember, it has earned its reputation without needing gimmicks.

Meals With a Show

Some venues serve theatre on a plate. When the cooking comes with showmanship, the meal becomes part of the night’s main event. These spots lean into performance without compromising on what’s on the plate.

Misono Japanese Restaurant (JW Marriott)

Misono turns teppanyaki into sharp choreography. Chefs slice, flip and flame their way through multi-course meals with precision and a sense of fun. It’s loud, interactive and worth gathering a group for.

Every seat feels close to the action, and the pace keeps the table entertained between bites. For couples or friends looking for something playful but polished, Misono Japanese Restaurant Gold Coast sets the tone. The venue is best reached by car or Uber.

Surfers Pavilion

Surfers Pavilion leads with its view and keeps attention with fresh seafood and an all-day energy. The oyster bar fills early, especially in the afternoon sun, and the cocktail list carries a coastal lean that suits the setting.

Music rolls in by the weekend, giving it that local favourite feel. Surfers Pavilion draws a steady crowd who know where to sit, what to order and when to arrive.

Where to Eat in Surfers Paradise

For solo travellers or slow-paced grazers, Surfers Paradise serves up light bites and good timing. Early mornings suit a strong brew and a beachside breakfast at one of many Gold Coast cafes scattered through the precinct.

In the late afternoon, the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets start to roll out along the Esplanade. It’s an easy mix of street snacks, handmade finds and music on the breeze. The kind of stop that fits between swims and strolls.

If you’re weighing up where to eat Surfers Paradise style without locking in a table, these casual spots make it simple. Pull up a chair outdoors or wander with something in hand. Good food here often lands when you least expect it.

Flavour Meets the Itinerary

Food shapes the way your holiday unfolds. It sets the pace, brings people together, and often becomes the standout moment of the day. Great meals give you stories worth repeating.

Some of the best casual dining Gold Coast has to offer is just minutes away, with character and convenience baked in. If you’re searching for places for dinner, Gold Coast travellers recommend time and again, you’ll find them here.

Every meal adds something to the day, and planning around food just makes sense.

Make Every Meal Easy

You won’t need to plan your day around dinner. The choices are plentiful, the pace stays easy and getting there won’t slow you down. This is what staying well-located looks like.

Expect beach blowouts, standout concerts, glowing lantern nights and a bit of motor-powered madness. Each event is timed, located and hand-picked to give your Gold Coast stay a proper spark.

Open your calendar and start filling it in. The best kind of chaos is the one you plan for.

Surfers Paradise Events Worth Planning

The Gold Coast always puts on a show, but Surfers Paradise events in 2025 raise the stakes in all the right ways. The calendar is already filling with standout moments:

  • fireworks bursting over the beachfront,
  • family festivals with plenty of colour and noise,
  • cultural nights that bring something fresh to your stay.

If you’re planning things to do Surfers Paradise style, this roundup keeps your itinerary full and your holiday sharp. These attractions set the pace for the year ahead, with each one timed to turn an ordinary trip into something to remember.

April Highlights

The early days of autumn bring cooler breezes and two standout events that shape the Gold Coast rhythm in April. These seasonal favourites create the kind of local colour that’s worth scheduling into your stay.

Easter in the Laneway

Cavill Lane will buzz with life from 18 to 20 April 2025. Expect live entertainment, face painting and roving Easter characters surrounded by cafés and shops. It’s a relaxed space that suits families looking for an easy afternoon outing during the holidays.

  • Arrive before 4 pm for the most interactive fun
  • Free entry with giveaways along the way
  • Located within walking distance of central Surfers

This is one of those Gold Coast Surfers Paradise attractions that adds something cheerful without any stress. Bring a tote, refillable water bottles and a light appetite for chocolate.

Gold Coast Film Festival

Running from 16 to 27 April 2025, the Gold Coast Film Festival brings a quieter kind of buzz. HOTA and nearby cinemas will screen indie favourites and local productions alongside director Q&As and sunset rooftop sessions.

  • Great for couples, solo travellers and film fans
  • HOTA is about a 10 to 15-minute drive from Surfers Paradise
  • Secure your seats early to avoid missing out

For those browsing things to do in Surfers beyond the usual, this event offers a thoughtful and memorable change of pace. With good timing, you can catch a film and still squeeze in a late swim.

May Festival Picks

May steps into the spotlight with three signature events that bring rhythm, colour and a little sparkle to the cooler evenings. These night attractions that Gold Coast visitors return for year after year help create a perfect balance of energy and atmosphere.

Ministry of Sound at HOTA

This orchestral remix of classic dance anthems returns to HOTA on 3 May with a soundtrack built for nostalgia. Expect sweeping strings, live vocals and a crowd that knows every beat. It’s ideal for couples or a group night out with a dress-up edge.

  • Arrive early to soak in the pre-show atmosphere
  • HOTA is a short 8 to 10-minute drive from Surfers
  • Tickets sell quickly. Book ahead to lock in your spot

This is the kind of entertainment Gold Coast weekends are known for. With its open-air surrounds and riverfront location, HOTA adds something special to a music night.

Gold Coast Water Lantern Festival

Scheduled for 10 May 2025, the Water Lantern Festival takes over HOTA Parklands for one of the most peaceful nights on the local calendar. Lanterns drift across the water as music, food trucks and a soft glow surround you.

  • Great for families, couples or solo visitors
  • Bring a picnic mat and layer up. It cools quickly after dark
  • Tickets often include your lantern and marker for custom messages

Few events create the same slow-paced calm as this one. Among Surfers Paradise events, it’s a standout for quiet beauty and thoughtful moments.

SeaFire Surfers Paradise

Set for 31 May 2025, SeaFire returns to the beachfront with sky-high bursts of colour and sound. It’s free, family-friendly and walkable.

  • Best viewed with a picnic blanket and early arrival
  • One of the biggest fireworks nights on the Gold Coast
  • Surfers Paradise Beach puts you right under the action

For entertainment on the Gold Coast, Seafire Surfers Paradise continues to impress with its scale and seaside setting.

Winter Family Fun

July brings a burst of colour and sound during the school holidays, with one standout event designed entirely for young families. If you’re scanning what’s on Surfers Paradise for winter, this one brings the fun without the fuss.

Kidchella

Held 19 to 20 July at Broadwater Parklands, Kidchella turns the area into a music-filled playground with dance zones, roving performers and hands-on craft workshops. The event draws families across the region and suits all ages, especially younger kids ready to move and play.

  • Entry is free or low-cost, depending on the activities
  • Bring sunscreen, water bottles and picnic snacks
  • Arrive early to avoid queues at popular stations

August Airshow Buzz

The skies above Surfers Paradise were set to roar once again in 2025, but the much-anticipated Pacific Airshow Gold Coast 2025 has been cancelled. That hasn’t stopped aviation fans and hopeful travellers from marking the dates just in case.

Pacific Airshow Gold Coast 2025

Originally scheduled for 15 to 17 August, the airshow drew thousands to the beachfront in 2023 with military jets, aerobatics and precision stunts. The cancellation in 2025 has left a noticeable gap in the late-winter event calendar, but it’s still a talking point among locals and returning guests.

  • One of the largest beach-based airshows in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Hosted in Surfers Paradise with prime views from the sand
  • Known for its sound, spectacle and non-stop crowd energy

October Race Weekend

Spring shifts into high gear as the Gold Coast’s biggest motorsport event takes over the streets. It’s loud, fast and filled with fans who plan their trip around the action.

Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500

Set for 24 to 26 October, this race weekend transforms Southport’s circuit into a crowd-drawing spectacle. V8 supercars dominate the streets while entertainment and pit-lane activities keep the energy going all day.

  • Best suited to motorsport fans, groups and energetic weekends
  • Located around a 25 to 30-minute drive from Surfers
  • Book early.

Your Gold Coast Line-Up Just Got Better

These Surfers Paradise events help define the mood of your stay. If you’re choosing dates around the best Gold Coast things to do, this line-up makes the decision easier. Add your top picks to the calendar and build in time for the spontaneous moments, too.

Stay Near Every Moment

When events guide your itinerary, staying close counts. St Tropez places you right where it all happens, near the beach, Cavill Lane and tram connections across the city.

You can walk to the fireworks, take the light rail to HOTA or grab dinner nearby after a show. Everything is close enough to enjoy without the hassle of parking or planning around transport. Settle in where the Gold Coast comes to life.

Book your stay at St Tropez and make every moment effortless.

Let the adventure begin!

Surfers Paradise Things To Do

Go on a fun sightseeing tour with Gold Coast on Aquaduck Gold Coast or Quack’rDuck

Tour the Gold Coast on land and water with Aquaduck Gold Coast or Quack’rDuck. The tour involves riding an amphibious vehicle painted like a duck. Choose between Aquaduck Gold Coast or Quack’rDuck, located near St Tropez Resort in Surfers Paradise.

Aquaduck Gold Coast’s guided tour lasts for an hour and runs through some of the main attractions on the Gold Coast on land and water. This is a fun and relaxing tour, especially when you have little children. It will be exciting for them as Aquaduck allows kids to take turns driving the vessel on the water.

The Aquaduck tour departs from its headquarters on Cahill Avenue in Surfers Paradise. This is only a few minutes walk from St Tropez Resort. The tour costs $40 for kids and $50 for adults. Tickets for seniors are $47 and $169 for the entire family (which includes two adults and two children).

Quack’rDuck also operates on the same concept. It’s a guided tour of the Gold Coast’s most famous sights on land and water.

The first tour starts at 10:30 in the morning, and the last tour for the day ends at 4:45 pm. Tickets for adults cost $50, $40 for kids aged 2 to 17, and $169 for the whole family (two adults and two children). Seniors can buy their tickets for the tour at $47.

You can book the Aquaduck Gold Coast tour here. Or book the Quack’rDuck tour here.

Check out some birds at Macintosh Island Park

There are plenty of things to do on the Gold Coast, which can get pretty hectic. Get a moment respite or a morning of calm at Macintosh Island Park. This tranquil haven features playgrounds, babbling streams, and quiet picnic areas.

Sit down on one of the park benches if you want to give your feet a rest from all that walking or running after your kids.

This is also a bird sanctuary, so don’t be surprised if you encounter peacocks and other birds here and there. If you need to escape the hustle and bustle of the world, then this is one of the best places to visit on the Gold Coast.

Marvel at the wax figures at the Gold Coast Wax Museum

The Gold Coast Wax Museum in Surfers Paradise opened in 1968 and is a must-visit whether you’re a fan of wax figures or not.

The museum features famous figures in world and local history, including US presidents, Australian leaders, and the British royal family. There are also hyper-realistic wax figures of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Joseph Stalin, and other world-changers.

You’ll also find wax figures of famous people in the entertainment industry. These include Kylie Minogue, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.

The wax museum features dioramas of famous nursery rhymes, historical events, and everyday life.

Admission to the Gold Coast Surfers Paradise Wax Museum costs $35 for adults and $28 for children. The museum also offers special pricing for families and groups of 5 or more. Buy your tickets here.

Visit Ripley’s Believe it or Not! in Surfers Paradise

If you want a unique and more interactive experience, check out Ripley’s Believe it or Not! in Surfers Paradise. This is one of the best things to do in Surfers Paradise, and this place is excellent for people who like unusual or bizarre exhibits and news of incredible feats.

The attraction is in the heart of Surfers Paradise and is part of the Cavill Mall.

The current attraction includes the usual Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Exhibit and the 7D Moving Theatre. There’s also the fun Mirror Maze. You can purchase Combo Tickets if you want a more immersive experience or Single Tickets if you have a flight to catch in the afternoon.

Get a bird’s eye view of Surfers Paradise and beyond from the SkyPoint Observation Deck

The SkyPoint Observation Deck is located atop the Q1 building, one of the tallest residential buildings in the world. You can chill out at the deck or enjoy the view as you munch on delicious food created by SkyPoint Bistro + Bar.

SkyPoint is open during the day and evening, allowing visitors to witness the stunning daylight vistas and the sparkling city lights at night. Sunset views from the observation deck are particularly popular.

The observation deck often features interactive displays and information about the landmarks visible from the vantage point. This educational aspect enhances the overall experience for visitors.

For those seeking a more adventurous experience, SkyPoint offers the SkyPoint Climb, an external climb on the spire of the Q1 building. This guided climb provides an adrenaline-pumping experience with even more spectacular views.

Purchase your SkyPoint Observation Tickets here.

Experience psychedelic lights at Infinity attraction

Infinity Surfers Paradise will give you an immersive experience in light and space. At Infinity, you’ll enter a maze and walk through interactive and colourful lights.

This trippy experience is accompanied by fun music and fantastic optical illusions. This is something you and your kids will love.
