Dive into the heart of Surfers Paradise with our comprehensive guide to the most exhilarating experiences that extend far beyond the crashing waves.

Whether you’re a seasoned solo traveller or you and your family are eager to explore this coastal haven’s vibrant culture, this blog post is your ticket to an unforgettable journey.

Join us as we uncover the things to do and the must-visit places that make Surfers Paradise an exciting destination.

Let the adventure begin!

Surfers Paradise Things To Do

Go on a fun sightseeing tour with Gold Coast on Aquaduck Gold Coast or Quack’rDuck

Tour the Gold Coast on land and water with Aquaduck Gold Coast or Quack’rDuck. The tour involves riding an amphibious vehicle painted like a duck. Choose between Aquaduck Gold Coast or Quack’rDuck, located near St Tropez Resort in Surfers Paradise.

Aquaduck Gold Coast’s guided tour lasts for an hour and runs through some of the main attractions on the Gold Coast on land and water. This is a fun and relaxing tour, especially when you have little children. It will be exciting for them as Aquaduck allows kids to take turns driving the vessel on the water.

The Aquaduck tour departs from its headquarters on Cahill Avenue in Surfers Paradise. This is only a few minutes walk from St Tropez Resort. The tour costs $40 for kids and $50 for adults. Tickets for seniors are $47 and $169 for the entire family (which includes two adults and two children).

Quack’rDuck also operates on the same concept. It’s a guided tour of the Gold Coast’s most famous sights on land and water.

The first tour starts at 10:30 in the morning, and the last tour for the day ends at 4:45 pm. Tickets for adults cost $50, $40 for kids aged 2 to 17, and $169 for the whole family (two adults and two children). Seniors can buy their tickets for the tour at $47.

You can book the Aquaduck Gold Coast tour here. Or book the Quack’rDuck tour here.

Check out some birds at Macintosh Island Park

There are plenty of things to do on the Gold Coast, which can get pretty hectic. Get a moment respite or a morning of calm at Macintosh Island Park. This tranquil haven features playgrounds, babbling streams, and quiet picnic areas.

Sit down on one of the park benches if you want to give your feet a rest from all that walking or running after your kids.

This is also a bird sanctuary, so don’t be surprised if you encounter peacocks and other birds here and there. If you need to escape the hustle and bustle of the world, then this is one of the best places to visit on the Gold Coast.

Marvel at the wax figures at the Gold Coast Wax Museum

The Gold Coast Wax Museum in Surfers Paradise opened in 1968 and is a must-visit whether you’re a fan of wax figures or not.

The museum features famous figures in world and local history, including US presidents, Australian leaders, and the British royal family. There are also hyper-realistic wax figures of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Joseph Stalin, and other world-changers.

You’ll also find wax figures of famous people in the entertainment industry. These include Kylie Minogue, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.

The wax museum features dioramas of famous nursery rhymes, historical events, and everyday life.

Admission to the Gold Coast Surfers Paradise Wax Museum costs $35 for adults and $28 for children. The museum also offers special pricing for families and groups of 5 or more. Buy your tickets here.

Visit Ripley’s Believe it or Not! in Surfers Paradise

If you want a unique and more interactive experience, check out Ripley’s Believe it or Not! in Surfers Paradise. This is one of the best things to do in Surfers Paradise, and this place is excellent for people who like unusual or bizarre exhibits and news of incredible feats.

The attraction is in the heart of Surfers Paradise and is part of the Cavill Mall.

The current attraction includes the usual Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Exhibit and the 7D Moving Theatre. There’s also the fun Mirror Maze. You can purchase Combo Tickets if you want a more immersive experience or Single Tickets if you have a flight to catch in the afternoon.

Get a bird’s eye view of Surfers Paradise and beyond from the SkyPoint Observation Deck

The SkyPoint Observation Deck is located atop the Q1 building, one of the tallest residential buildings in the world. You can chill out at the deck or enjoy the view as you munch on delicious food created by SkyPoint Bistro + Bar.

SkyPoint is open during the day and evening, allowing visitors to witness the stunning daylight vistas and the sparkling city lights at night. Sunset views from the observation deck are particularly popular.

The observation deck often features interactive displays and information about the landmarks visible from the vantage point. This educational aspect enhances the overall experience for visitors.

For those seeking a more adventurous experience, SkyPoint offers the SkyPoint Climb, an external climb on the spire of the Q1 building. This guided climb provides an adrenaline-pumping experience with even more spectacular views.

Purchase your SkyPoint Observation Tickets here.

Experience psychedelic lights at Infinity attraction

Infinity Surfers Paradise will give you an immersive experience in light and space. At Infinity, you’ll enter a maze and walk through interactive and colourful lights.

This trippy experience is accompanied by fun music and fantastic optical illusions. This is something you and your kids will love.

Infinity is open from 10 in the morning until 10 at night. Tickets range from $19.90 for kids to $28.90 for adults. Pay $82.90 for a family of four and $19.90 for seniors. Children under three years old are free.

There you have it. All the things you can do in Surfers Paradise and beyond if you’re done swimming and surfing.

The BLEACH* Festival, the Gold Coast’s most significant cultural arts festival, is just around the corner. Prepare for an incredible 11-day celebration from August 3 to August 13.

The Gold Coast’s annual contemporary art event is BLEACH*. It began as a tiny side event to the World Championship Tour Quiksilver Pro surfing tournament on the Southern Gold Coast. Bleach* Surfing the Fringe started in 2012 as a prototype project with a $40,000 budget and drew 30,000 visitors over 16 days.

The BLEACH* Festival, now in its 12th year, continues its celebration of art. Their 2023 program includes over 300 artists and 218 performances across 38 events, making it the Gold Coast’s signature arts and culture festival.

So please take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of history as the festival celebrates its 12th year from the shoreline of North Burleigh to the valley of Currumbin and the tidal flow of the Nerang River.

Here’s what to expect at the 12th BLEACH* Festival.

Love Your Local North Burleigh Hub

August 4 to 6 and 11 to 13

There are many activities at the North Burleigh Hub, whether engaging in dance performances with the sand between your toes or listening to some of the Gold Coast’s most excellent musicians.

The hub’s music lineup includes nominees from the Gold Coast Music Awards. They’re also throwing the finest dance party you’ve ever seen. Leave everything on the dance floor for 10 minutes as a beautiful collision of art, colour, costume, and community unite!

Broadbeach Cultural Precinct

August 10 – 12

From August 10 to 12, head to the Broadbeach Hub to see extraordinary talent exhibitions, including burlesque, theatre, stand-up comedy, drag, spoken word, and much more.

Enjoy the River Songs series, which features musical duo Yirinda, who blend ancient Aboriginal language with kaleidoscopic harmonies, the adventurous musical pairing known as Shugorei and ‘the sorceress of percussion,’ Claire Edwardes, the only Australian artist to win the APRA Art Music Luminary Award four times.

Meet Poncho, a Latino-loving, eccentric figure that liquefies the English language and takes you on an insane, amusing voyage of narrative and physical humour. Alternatively, explore the tantalising world of YUMMY ICONIC, a great mash-up of beautiful burlesque, amazing circus, and outrageous drag acts.

Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens

August 11 – 13

The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens is a 31-hectare haven of beauty and tranquillity located just off a busy stretch of Ashmore Road in Benowa. There’s much to see and do inside for people of all ages, including rose, bush food, butterfly gardens, and a sensory garden with plants designed to excite the five senses.

Prepare for a musical thrill in this paradise during the BLEACH* Festival. Enjoy the performances, which are amongst the greenery and honour Australia’s best singers, musicians, and songwriters.

On the first day, see Tamara-Anna Cislowska, a renowned concert pianist, and Tarita Botsman, a visionary artist. The Australian premiere features some of the country’s most adventurous and inventive female composers and songwriters.

The Riverside Guitar Ensemble and Queensland Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra, The Con Artists, perform on the outdoor stage on day two. On the last day, spread out a picnic blanket and let ARIA-award-winning songbird Katie Noonan serenade you into the sunset with songs from Joni Mitchell’s seminal album, Blue.

With a season from late May to early November, the Gold Coast has some of the best whale viewing in the world. The city is home to a magnificent natural display daily as whales migrate to warmer seas up north and back south in the spring.

The ‘Humpback Highway’ is the migration path of fantastic sea creatures, with an estimated 35,000 whales passing through the Gold Coast each year. With population numbers increasing year after year, there is a lot of marine traffic along the Humpback Highway, making for fantastic whale watching.

Furthermore, when the migration is at its greatest, July and August are the busiest months on the Humpback Highway. Large pods pass through, and the sight of their spray and dashing out to sea from Gold Coast beaches is usual. Pregnant females travel slowly north, while numerous adult males are there, contending for the attention of the lady whales. They start heading south again in September, and by the end of the season in October, there are many mothers with newborns, which is a truly magnificent sight to watch.

Are you looking forward to seeing the whales up close? Here are some fantastic tours that you and your family can take.

Sea World Cruises

Sea World Cruises is the only whale-watching company on the Gold Coast that knows everything there is to know about whales. Sea World Cruises, the Gold Coast’s longest-running cruise company, is one of the area’s most popular whale-watching tour operators due to its diverse cruise choices, contemporary vessels, and first-rate service.

From May 27 to November 5, their Whale Watch Cruise is available. Setting sail from Sea World, Main Beach, you will embark on an unforgettable wildlife adventure in the hands of Australia’s most-awarded whale-watching operator. Enjoy personal contacts and be amused by their well-regarded crew while admiring the acrobatic abilities of these cheerful and inquisitive gentle giants.

It would be great to stop by their gorgeous beachfront Deck Cafe before or after your tour. The chefs at Sea World Cruises serve light snacks daily that are ideal for your whale viewing trip.

Sea World Marine Park

You should take advantage of their Whale Watching Combos if interested. If you have children, they will enjoy an aquatic day on the Gold Coast with a great Whale Watching Cruise and a visit to Sea World.

In each themed precinct, Sea World offers a range of exhibits, entertainment, animal adventures, and rides. In Nickelodeon Land, there are numerous beautiful rides and interactive experiences in the Castaway Bay precinct. In addition to these two, Sea World debuted The New Atlantis.

This immersive outdoor precinct includes three all-new attractions – Leviathan, Trident, and Vortex – brave huge currents, investigate a mighty beast and rule from the skies with these rides. Your children will undoubtedly enjoy a visit to this marine park as well!

Are you ready for an unforgettable family adventure? Early planning is essential to have enough time to prepare and select the best dates. Choose a Surfers Paradise accommodation that gives you access to everything the Gold Coast offers.

Take the chance to observe ANZAC Day this year by attending programs hosted by the RSL Surfers Paradise Sub Branch.

ANZAC Day, which falls on April 25, is an important national holiday in Australia. It is the anniversary of the First World War’s most significant fight in which Australian and New Zealander soldiers participated. Early morning memorial services and rituals are held at military memorials nationwide.

For convenient access to all the ANZAC Day activities, you can reserve a stay at St. Tropez Resort. The St. Tropez Holiday Apartments are well situated in Surfers Paradise’s bustling centre, just a short stroll from the most famous patrolled beach. Also, the resort is around 30 kilometres from Coolangatta Airport and 90 kilometres from Brisbane International Airport.

Here is a schedule of the RSL Surfers Paradise Sub Branch’s ANZAC Day activities to assist in your planning.

ANZAC Day Activities

The Parade

Be mindful of arriving early because many people attend the dawn service. It starts with the ANZAC Day Parade, which serves as the focal point of the commemorations and offers a chance to show support for both past and present service members.

Cadets, other community residents, and present and former Defense personnel participate in the ANZAC Day march. Around 4:45 am, they will assemble at 9 Beach Road in Surfers Paradise (outside the subway). At 5 am, the Dawn Parade begins on Beach Road.

Dawn Service

The Dawn Service is at The Esplanade’s Monument from 5:30 to 7:00 am. The ANZAC Memorial is on the Esplanade, on the other side of Trickett Street. The Dawn Service is a solemn ceremony steeped in tradition.

Following the Dawn Service, the Gunfire Breakfast is at the Diggers and Sports Club (formerly Surfers Paradise RSL). Individuals with valid RSL QLD membership cards are free; everyone else must donate gold coins.

Main Ceremony

You can also join the main ANZAC Day ceremony in Cavill Park between 12:00 and 1:00 pm. There are refreshments at the Diggers and Sports Club after. Also, the classic Australian game “Two Up” begins at 2:00 pm.

Australian soldiers created the traditional game “Two-up” during World War I, and it is now customary to play it on Anzac Day at pubs and RSL clubs nationwide. A designated “spinner” flings two pennies or coins into the air when playing two-up. Players wager on whether the coins will land with one head and one tail (known as “Ewan”) or if they will land with both heads (obverse) and tails (reverse) up.

Thousands of people attend the annual Anzac Day ceremony. Book your Surfers Paradise accommodation as soon as possible to ensure you have time to attend the ANZAC Day dawn service.

Surfers Paradise Accommodation

You may unwind in one of the St. Tropez resort’s spacious, airy, self-contained apartments with private balconies, furnished living areas, and a full kitchen. Choose our one- and two-bedroom accommodations, which are great for families and couples. HOTA, Home of the Arts, is the place for live performances, lakeside strolls, astronomy, movie watching, art, and new ideas. Regarding arts, HOTA will serve as the host venue for the 2023 Gold Coast Film Festival. The annual 12-day film festival, which includes over 100 films, conferences, parties, pop-up theatres, and unique events, will take place on the Gold Coast from April 19 to 30.
