1.  GOLD COAST MOVIES UNDER THE STARS

This FREE program runs from September through early April each year. Pack a picnic and blanket and head out for a FREE flick!

2. FESTIVALS & EVENTS

The Gold Coast hosts a number of FREE events and festivals all through-out the year. Here's a few coming up this summer 2016/17: 

Queensland Beach Volleyball Series – see top players sizzle on the sand from September 16 to March 17. Entry is FREE.

3. HIT THE BEACH

Of course it wouldn't be a FREE list of Gold Coast activities without including a visit to our famous beaches!
Take a stroll along the long stretch of golden sand, cool off with a dip (between the flags) or hit the surf!  A day on the beach is fun and FREE!

4. PLAYGROUNDS & PARKS

If you're visiting with kids then a visit to a local neighborhood playground is probably in order.  Let the kids burn off some energy at one of the free local playgrounds.  Some of our favourites include:
Macintosh Island Park – Surfers Paradise
Kurrawa Park – Broadbeach
Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens

5. GOLD COAST HINTERLAND

Pack a picnic lunch and hit the road for a short drive into the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland, this scenic section of the coast boasts 12 walking tracks to discover, waterfalls, and even glow worm caves! 

6. GOLD COAST ARTS CENTRE
Check out the UnSeenGC Summer 16-17 exhibition. Open from Friday the 25th of November until 31st March 2018! The exhibition is a mobile 3D augmented reality (AR) art experience, designed to introduce the Gold Coast community and our city’s visitors to some of the world’s best in AR art. Entry to this exhibition is FREE.
Gold Coast Arts Centre is located at 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise.

7. FARMERS & CRAFT MARKETS
The Gold Coast hosts many markets at locations all over the city each month.  Soak up the atmosphere, with many markets offering live entertainment. Entry is FREE … but you might want to take a couple of dollars to buy yourself a treat or two.  Some of the markets include:
Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets – 4pm to 9pm – each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Broadbeach Art and Craft Markets – 8am to 2:30pm – First and Third Sunday of the month.
Bundall Farmers Markets – 6am to 11:30am – every Sunday.
